Type what you know
Every question asks you to name something that is true. One answer is enough — but the more obscure, the better it scores. Aliases, accents and common short forms are all accepted.
A daily football quiz built on one idea: the rarer the answer, the more spectacular the goal.
Longshots is a free daily football quiz for people who know their football — and for people who want to find out how much they really know. Instead of picking from four options, you type an answer. A club, a player, a manager, a country. Anything that fits the question is a goal.
What makes Longshots different is what happens next. Your answer is graded by rarity. Name the most obvious club and you score a six-yard tap-in. Dig out a forgotten cup winner from the 19th century and your shot is suddenly a 40-yarder, a halfway-line strike, or the holy grail: a 100-yard keeper’s goal.
Each match day is seven questions with 25 seconds on the clock. A perfect round is 700 yards. Miss the target and the keeper saves it, a defender blocks it, or the ball ends up in Row Z. Run out of time and you get slide-tackled. The full-time whistle brings a match report, a shot map, the full answer sheets and a score you can share.
It is free to play, needs no sign-up, and resets every day at midnight UTC. If you cannot wait for tomorrow, Longshots Unlimited is the endless version: three lives, a streak multiplier, and the entire question bank to work through.

Every question asks you to name something that is true. One answer is enough — but the more obscure, the better it scores. Aliases, accents and common short forms are all accepted.
Tap-ins are worth 6 yards. Edge-of-the-box 18. A 40-yarder 40. A halfway-line answer 55. The rarest answers are 100-yard keeper’s goals. Seven questions, 700 yards available.
From Sunday League to Ballon d’Or, your total earns a title. See the shot map, read the match report, open the full team sheets and share your score card.
Every correct answer belongs to one of five rarity tiers. The rarer the name, the longer the shot.
| Tier | Yards | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Tap-in | 6 yds | The obvious answer. Almost everyone gets it. |
| Edge of the box | 18 yds | A well-known alternative — tidy fan knowledge. |
| 40-yarder | 40 yds | Proper supporter territory. Requires a second thought. |
| Halfway line | 55 yds | Deep-cut knowledge. Historic names live here. |
| Keeper's goal | 100 yds | The ultra-rare answer. Box to box, one in a million. |
